A First Birthday

Can you believe our Evie is already a year old? I can’t. It seems like she’s hardly been here long enough to be celebrating a birthday. Then again, it seems like she’s been here forever.

Evie thought she'd begin her day by reading the Restore essay and working on our latch hook project.

Next up: some quality snuggle time with mama!

And how about some exercise in the form of a ramble around the room?

Evie has been walking for quite a little while, but always a bit cautiously. This week, she’s thrown caution to the wind! She uses the furniture, and then, when the furniture runs out, she just keeps going! She can stop in the middle of nowhere without falling down, and then keep on going to wherever she was headed. And yesterday, after several days of downward-facing-dog pose, she figured out how to stand up without using a sofa for a crutch. She’s amazing.

blog IMG_8165We got her these Tobbles for her birthday.  Highly recommended!  The balls are weighted, but they stack easily.  They don’t have to go in perfect order, and they don’t have to land straight.  As you can see, her big brother is thoroughly enjoying them while Rosie attempts to distract Evie with her new baby doll.

blog IMG_8167I just love this expression on her face as the balls toppled down.  She’s so silly.

My baby.  A whole year old.  What a blessing.

Oh, that’s so hard to believe! Is her birthday today? My Joshua’s is today — he’s 23! (I can’t be that old, and he’s my second)

She’s such a pretty little girl. And so lucky to have all those brothers and sisters.

Awwwwww! Happiest Birthday to Baby Evelyn! (We have an Evelyn on the other side of the family, so we always preface with “baby” around here 😉 ) I hope you all enjoyed her birthday! Did she enjoy some cake, too?

    Love and hugs!

We had cake late, due to other people’s schedules, but she did get her own slice! (Which she ate rather neatly, I must say.) PS: What are you going to do when she’s no longer a baby? :-)
