Turtles! All stacked up on the bank for who-knows-what reason! Our pond is running high, and has been for about eight months. I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve been that wet, or because the neighbors re-engineered their front yard and we’re getting more run off. We’ve never had this much water this consistently.
Today is April 1, the sun is shining, temperatures are moderate, and suddenly my phone is ringing off the hook with folks wanting to buy our chicks. Which is fabulous, of course! But we slowed down on the hatching due to a lack of interest, so now we have to pick up the pace again, or we won’t have enough chickens for ourselves.
And, obviously, no baby yet. April 9 is our official due date, so that’s no surprise. I’ve never had an early baby, neither one of us is having any issues, really, and so we’re good to go for another week. Or two. Or more. You can’t tell with these babies!
In other news, in case you don’t follow along on instagram or facebook, Evie is rather successfully potty training this week! I can’t believe how well she is doing. The only little snafu is that she’s begun wetting her diaper at night again. She’d been waking dry more often than not, which is one of the main reasons I figured she was ready for the toilet. Daytime accidents are virtually non-existent, she’s begun telling me when she has to go now and then, and she even made it through an hour-and-a-half trip to town without incident. I even let her nap in her undies in my bed. I like to live on the wild side.
